SA1 PAPERS!!

Tomorrow's the official day to release the results of the MYE. I got to see some of my results in advance though.

Physics: 72.5%
Chem P1: 27/40
Bio: 57%
E.Math: 81.8%
SS: 28/50

So basically that is all I know of. I am happy because.... I am 2nd in level for Physics!! Only to be defeated by An Hua by erm.. 73.3% - 72.5% = 0.8%!! NO!!!! Apparently he did better for Paper 1 in MCQ with a score of 37/40, while I got 35/40. Well, that is after calculations base on the overall score and the Paper 2 score. So frustrating!

I am tied in 2nd place for Physics with WanXuan as I scored better in MCQ than her too. In the beginning for Paper 2, it was ...

WanXuan: 53
Clarence: 52
Anhua: 51

See how tight the competition was. But then again, is 72.5% or 73.3% really that much of an achievement? It is not even an A1, just an A2. Can't help but see that way. It is just as Mdm Yaw always 'says', "Your competitors are not within this school but students from Band 1 schools like Cedar Girls, etc." (The list tend to go on for at by another 3-4 reference to other schools.)

According to Mr Pu, the paper was rather tough. However, his definition of tough might not be what people from these schools deem as tough too. Well, that is how I think. I've been wondering how top schools set their papers these days. The fact that we all sit for the same paper at the end of the year, sort of defeated the purposes of setting papers in anyway tougher than each other in comparison. Shouldn't our papers be set according to the criteria and syllabus set by Cambridge, so as to prepare us for the final and ultimate face off at the end of the year?

True enough, papers might be set tougher due to the students capability, teachers can set tougher questions to stretch their students. However, it just seem sort of unnecessary to me. It is also true that setting tough questions prepares the worst for their students and ensure that they don't be complacent of their success.

However, perhaps the main question I wish to be answered is how better schools set their papers in difference to mine. I could also approach this in another manner by looking at how schools below my school in the bands set their papers too.

Hopefully I will get to see Eddie and Dick's papers as reference to clear my doubts, so as Felicia's papers too.

That's gonna be all for today's update.
Ja-na.
