STREEESSSS!!

I've never felt this stress before. Not even when we had the SYF Central Judging. Not to mention, for all I know, the moon just turned blue for I am actually feeling stress and a billion years have just passed caused I'm actually stressed about my studies for the very first time.

I had never felt the need to worry or feel any stress thus far. Not even 4 years ago when I was taking PSLE. Some how it just feels much more important for me to do well in the 'big Os' (as Sharon puts it) this time. It's like there are so many things that are gonna be affected by my results this time round. My dream, my future, my school, my friends and just maybe, my futuristic girlfriend. K, that's was just my lame attempt to lighten up things here. There are just so many complications now I guess, that makes this exam much much more important than PSLE could ever possibly had been for me.

Stress works pretty efficiently on me though, I think. I'm working harder now. That is in comparison to how I was like a year and maybe a few months ago too. Sort of contradictory here though isn't it? Since I'm like slacking and posting here when I should be starting on my revision on Chemistry for the day since I laid out all my books and files/notes on the table right behind me. That was indeed my original plan, until I discovered I have not watch a few episodes of Naruto Shippudden.

To compensate for that, I'm gonna study longer and more indept tomorrow. However, I'm still gonna make full use of the time that I have while I'm still awake right now since I had a nice nap before dinner already, it's gonna take some workout before I can get back to sleep, I'm gonna read up on my text so that tomorrow's revision can be more efficient and I can also do more on Biology tomorrow.

The cause of my worries most probably arise from my problems with Biology. I just seem to suck at it I guess. Just take yesterday's SPA for example. I am most certain that I'm not gonna do well for my Bio SPA. I can see that my 20% of Bio just went down the drain already. Sighs. Just have to work harder on my theory paper to come I guess. However, for some one who practically slacked through Bio in the past whole year, that is quite alot to ask from me. I totally realised how bad I am when I was attempting to do last year's Mid Year Paper that Ms Dianah supposedly wanted to go through in class. I soo regret not listenning and study well last year. Whole year of bio lessons seems to have went down the drain too.

Hopefully it just ain't late to buck up now. Now that I have realised my weak topics and areas in all three Sciences, it should be easier to pick them up by prelims. However, I'm most probably not gonna do spectacular for SA1. Still, I'm gonna do what ever I can before SA1 comes, which is like 3 days from now only. I'm gonna make full use of tomorrow's Labour Day holiday and the weekend to brush up on as many subjects I can, hopefully I would be more prepared than I am right now.

The only good news is that SPA is finally over. Physics SPA was exceptionally easy as we have gone through them in class repeatedly. However, I conked out on some facts again. I just can't verbally express how should I draw the graph. It is supposedly y against x, but I wrote it as x against y. Gosh, I'm in for a tough ride I bet. Sighs. What's done is done, and it's all over now. What's left, is to work hard enough for the theory papers, hopefully, to compensate for my stupidity shown during SPAs.

Enough of the big talk and it's time to get started on my work.

HAIR COMBS!.

I was on the bus home this afternoon, totally exhausted. The bus stopped outside Dunearn Secondary and the students came aboard. Something on one of the girl's uniform caught my attention. Nothing horny but, something orange was sticking out of the chest pocket - a hair comb. I was rather shocked as I soon realised behind her was 2 other girls with a hair comb in their chest pocket too.

It seems like not only do you find in a group of girls, even among of ugly girls, there would usually be one girl who would stand out to be more attractive than the rest, it seems like I have also notice that among a group of girls, there are at least 2 girls in the group who has a hair comb with them all the time.

At first I had thought only Yi Jun was worried to this degree about her appearance. Whenever she is given a chance to find a mirror or something that can reflect her appearance, she would walk up to it to do her hair. Well, I guess being particular in their appearance is something most girls do.

BIO Student Who Doesn't Even Know

That A Balsam Plant is a Land Plant?!

Yeap, I'm the man. That came out for the SPA Skill 3 this afternoon and I was caught unprepared. I hadn't thought about the spieces of plants that they would use and just kept on thinking through the experiment set ups that could come up for Photosynthesis.

Originally when I first saw the paper, I suspect that it is a land plant, but after realising I'm not very sure of the set-up I should use for it should it be a land plant, I altered my stand for it to be a water plant. Hopefully I don't get penalised by too much even though I know that my approach is wrong already.

All that's left is the Physics SPA Skill 3 Assesment tomorrow. It's gonna be all or nothing.

ANTIMATTER: NOT AS SCARY AS WE THINK

"No!" Vittoria said from above, breathless. "We must evacuate right now! You cannot take the antimatter out of here! If you bring it up, everyone outside will die!"
Angels and Demons, Dan Brown, Pocket Books

IT WAS not so long ago that we were hearing how CERN's Large Hadron Collider would produce planet-destroying black holes. Now a movie based on Dan Brown's blockbuster (Angel's and Demons), due to hit the big screen next month, provides us with another supposed danger emanating from the particle physics laboratory near Geneva, Switzerland: antimatter, the seed of a weapon of unsurpassed destructive power.

While Brown's take on antimatter is fictional, the stuff itself certainly isn't. We see its signature in cosmic rays, and it is routinely made in high-energy collisions inside particle smashers the world over. In hospitals, radioactive molecules that emit antimatter particles are used for imaging in the technique known as positron emission tomography.

Brown was right about one thing, though: if you want to find out more about antimatter, CERN is the place to go. In this special feature, we explain how experiments at the laboratory are helping to answer some of our more pressing questions about this most elusive of substances.

Westlife - Can't Lose What You Never Had.

Cant Lose What You Never Had - Westlife

Baby you're so beautiful,
and when i'm near you,
i can't breathe,(i can't breathe)
A girl like you gets what she wants,
when she wants it,
You're so out of my league,
(out my league)
I show you no emotion,
Don't let you see,
what you're doin' to me,
(that's what you seeing baby)
I imagine the two of us together,
but i've been living in reality,

Fear of rejection,
kept my love inside,
But time is running out,
so damn my foolish pride,

I don't care if you think i'm crazy,
(crazy)
It doesn't matter if it turns out bad,
(i don't care)
I've got no fear of losing you,
You can't lose what you never had,

Now i'm gonna confess,
that i love you, (love you)
I've been keeping it inside,
(inside),
feelin i could die,
But if you turn away,
baby that's O.K.,
At least we had a moment,
before you say goodbye,
You can lose what you never had,

Rules are made for breaking,
(breaking)
Nothing ventured nothing gained,
I'll be no worse off,
then i am right now,
and i might never get that chance again,
baby,

Chorus

Here on the outside looking in,
Don't wanna stay dreaming bout,
what could have been,
Need to hear you speak my name,
even if you shoot me down in flames,

Chorus

You can't loose what you never had,
You can't loose what you never had,
You can't loose what you never had......

Libera is a non-profit all-boy vocal group directed by Robert Prizeman. Their name comes from their signature song "Libera," which is based on the Libera Me portion of the Requiem Mass. "Libera" is the Latin word for "free". Most of the boys in Libera come from the parish choir of St. Philips, Norbury, in South London.

According to a Songs of Praise TV special that aired January 25th, 2009, the choir has approximately forty boys between the ages of seven and sixteen. The boys come from a variety of backgrounds in the London area, attending many different schools, including local state schools, church schools and performing arts schools.

Ruth: Grammarwise. That sounded terribly arrogant and Clarence-like.. whoop, pleonasm. They're the same thing.

Clarence Liu
thinks that, "defeat Ruth" may be a bold statement but not an arrogant one. However, it is of utmost arrogance to think that she is invincible and undefeatable and that she has the licence to critisize everyone she detest in utmost arrogant manner. That, is arrogance.

I do believe Ruth-like has the exactly meaning of arrogance some where too.

Let the Cat and Mouse Race, begin!

I am proud of myself today as I studied and revised Chemistry for around 2 and a half hours. Solid 2 and a half hours mind you. I managed to revised on Metals, which Mdm Yaw is going to test us on this week, on areas that I have forgot by going through some of the questions done in the previous worksheets and the exam and test papers.

Noticed that I have quite a few blanks in my notes too and quickly requested help from the Chem-guru Clara to help me fill in the blanks. I also managed to get the Rules of Solubility into my head by locating the chapter it is in (Identification of Ions). So I did learn up quite alot from the 2 and a half solid hours of revision.

I'm not done for the day yet though. I'm going to revise on Physics later in the night. With this, I'm even more determined and confident to defeat Ruth!

However, I sort of neglected on the areas that we are going to be tested on for the coming SPA Skill 3 Assesment. Example, Photosynthesis for Bio, Periodic Table for Chem, Mechanics for Physics. Gotta find time to revise on these tomorrow.

That brings us to the end of today's post once again.

WOW.

-uh-huh.
alrightt. did my qt yesterday. realised that we've all been a little too hard on clarence isnt it? i mean, yes he is irritaing at times, when he HAS to reply to whatever the teacher just said. but aiyah, i also very irritating. and em, he likes to give like dumb comments on ppl's religion but havent we gone like on and on about his "cleristo" thing? yea yea he can say it's not a religion what not, but aiyah, to u it's not. to the world, it is. same with Christianity. it's a relationship, not a religion. i agree as well but only christians think that way because well, they're a christian lol. and he talks too much at times ( me too ).

also, he likes to write poems that are urm, like an essay with paragraphing after every sentence. still, we didnt have to condemn him to such a extent that now, he no longer dares to write anymore. (which is quite a relief BUT yea.. )

at the very least, he dares to be himself, and not try to pretend like smth he is not so that he can be like urm, accepted? which i think is more than what some people can claim to be. like mr pu said during physics lesson " when clarence talk, all of you tell him to shut up. but when i ask question, only he dare to speak up and answer." which is in a way true. although one thing that is REALLY irritating is that he claims to know everything. like when mrs toh ask which country produce beef he goes like japan and like every question concerning general knowledge he will want to answer.

uh-huh, so i think when ruth reads this she'll be like coming up with another million reasons why
clarence is irritating. and roll her eyes at every sentence i wrote. (although ruth has a secret crush on clarence LOL! ) so yea, can we like go easy on him and learn smth from zhiting, like she's the nicest person i ever met yet. so uh-huh. peace!

I am rather shocked about what Hong Zhang had commented on his blog. Very unexpected some how. However, I am even more shock by what ChangYen commented after she saw his post.

Chang Yen: ... And yes, I agree with the clarence thing. Perhaps we've been to judgemental that we overlook our own flaws.

Anyway, the shock is over. I'm gonna congratulate some group of people now...

Take a break,

Have a Kit-Kat!

I seriously gonna could need some time getting use to this life without the race to SYF. Just alone this morning, I already kept on thinking about the practice that was supposedly going to be held if SYF had not have ended yet. I wonder is this gonna go on for months to come. That would be rather creepy.

Not forgetting I'm gonna have to face the fact that I won't be collecting keys from Ms Seah or Ms Dianah any more. I won't have to worry and run around the school finding places to practice at. I wouldn't need to get the guys to help me carry things around too. Argh, it is just 1 day since we just met up and I'm already missing the choir.

I'm gonna have to find time to visit the choir now and then even after I'm officially dismissed from the choir. It's just so awkward and sort of sad now that I'm gonna graduate from Choir. This had never been something I have ever thought of even in my everytime daydreams. Never was there a moment that I had thought of days without choir.

"Victory never tasted so sweet until you truly earn it with your hands." - Anonymous.

Very true indeed. The taste of sucess still lingers at the tip of my tongue now and then. Never failed to make me feel on the verge of breaking into tears. I bet that sounded rather exaggerated, not to mention, Gay-ish. But I am too human, I have feelings. Feelings for the choir, for my comrades, for my juniors. These tiny little aspects in life, make me human, yet weak.

Weak in the face that we must move on. Nothing last forever. No matter how great a show had been, it must all come to an end when the last note had been sang. This truly marks the end of the very first 4 years of my journey as a choir member in BBSS. I hold the pride and honour that we attained and maintained a Silver despite the odds.

It started with a BANG,

and ended with a CRUNCH.

It has finally come to an end.

In this post I am gonna recollect the Big Day for the BBSS Choir '09 starting from the very morning when everyone was to report - the Music Centre.

In pitch black I left home. Filled with pretty much anxiety that it was finally the Big Day. Caught the right bus and the right time. A pretty great start for the day I thought. However, I almost turned up late at school. Only reach school just in time and by the time I reach the Music Centre, I was already a few minutes late. Nevertheless, I made it.

After surrendering my possesions, I got the guys to all gather at the Boys toilet to wax up our hair. Brought back beautiful memories at moments, of the last SYF when Shaun and Zheng Yang was still around.

The order was given to gather back at the room so that we can do our final touches before we head down to get onto the bus. We were rather held back some how, I believe the bus reported late at the school gates. Only boarded the school at around 7.30am. The journey down all the way to VCH was rather soothing though, kept my anxiety at bay with a pair of ear piece in my ears that are not plugged to anything. All that was playing, were songs that kept my calm and at ease. All playing right from my mind. Talk about Plug and Play.

So we reached and met up with Ms Yee, moved to the beloved and good old bus stop near the Concert Hall. Again, it brought up pleasant memories of the last SYF too. Maybe, it was a sign that we were going to get Silver already. Ran through a few of the pieces after the warm ups. Finally, we assured Ms Yee once again that we were going to place 110% faith in her and follow her through the final part of the race.

Everything became more of a rush after we got called into the hall. This was the moment of truth as every thing that we have done in the past 5 months and more was going, to face the music of truth.

I enjoyed myself in the performance more than I had originally expected I will be. With the added confidence, I swayed and brought out everything I was taught of and did my very best after these months of training. It was refreshing when the whole thing ended. Very refreshing and relaxing.

We went on to see the rest of the schools perform in the morning session and gained much from it. I liked ACSI and VS best throughout the schools that were performing. VS exceptionally left a deep impression on me. But of course, it was being conducted and instructed by one of the best conductors in Singapore! Their performance was darn creepy. The meow really brought the goosebumps up to the collar. Very very entertainning and educational.

However the best part of the morning came next. I must say, I am exceptionally thankful that we got to stay till Lunch time. Got to hear a true COP choir for the very first time. It was truly an eye-opener to see both a GwH choir and a COP choir perform.

Rush back to school and had a hour and a half of free time before I had to report at the Bio Lab for the Bio SPA. After which I rush back home to get changed and get money for the dinner at night.

It was rather hectic along the journey to the VCH as Desiree just couldn't lead the road well enough. It would have been easier and faster had we alight at Raffles. It only made matters worst that she attempted to bring us to VCH through a shortcut, which ended up extending our walking time by at least 3x!

Could have reach there earlier. Nevertheless, the thought of sitting in the Hall to listen the results was diminished when we were informed that only the teacher-in-charge was allowed in. Both Ms Seah and Ms Dianah got a sit for themselves and the rest of us waited outside. They sure took their time to release their results. Had waited for at least 45 minutes before they released the results.
"Choir number 15. Bukit Batok Secondary School, Silver."
Even though that had been expressionless, I questioned had it really been said in that manner when everyone jumped and screamed upon hearing the news. The girls broke into tears of joy, and the guys finally released their grips on each other's shoulders. Maybe just except for one girl.

I didn't express much happiness even though I was on the verge of crying. I still have the urge to cry towards the end of the day with the thought of all the hard work that was put in and we gladly received the best news of the day. It was a recognition of our hard work. Our hard work and patience had finally paid off.

Everyone became rather chaotic in the moment the news broke out. It was later known that Ms Seah heard us screamed outside the doors when the announcement was released. I seriously felt sorry for those schools which didn't did as well as they thought they would. The girls totally made it worst by cheering right among the crowd, in front of a group of already extremely hurt girls. I swore I heard one of the girls cried even louder after they did the cheer.

Quickly requested for the choir to move out of the entrance to gather outside the building. The crying continued and we were shortly joined by Ms Seah and Ms Dianah. It had been rather fruitful after all.

They were sad that they didn't get to shave my hair off though. I didn't mind personally to shave my hair if we really got a Gold. In fact, I would do anything to exchange for it. However, I have no regrets and disappointment anymore for I know we had did our very best already.

Was pretty shocked at first upon hearing the news that there was a group of online critic criticising on the choirs, and apparently thought little of us. But their criticism weren't groundless as I checked out after which when I reach home late in the night.

We struggled to agree on a place to have a meal together and end up splitting the group. Most of us became the group that chose FoodCourt over Swensens. It doesn't matter though.

It was a great meal despite the food wasn't spectacular, but because we had each other and we had already received the best thing that anything could have had happen to us that day.

We can finally take a breather and look forward with more confidence for the AAC Performance earlier on today. Which turned out pretty well. But was of a lower quality as we were badly shaken by the extremely long wait while the VIPs entered the Hall. It was also later known that the mic was not on, but didn't matter still.

As Sec 4, we can finally step down without regrets as we have fulfilled our duty despite the accusations by some seniors that we weren't gonna make it through this SYF with a Silver. Still, we proved them wrong.

All that is left to await for choir, is the Official Choir Graduation Ceremony cum. SYF '09 Celebration Dinner cum. Choir Camp '09. Not forgetting, however, that we still have some duties before we are released officially till the above events. The last duty on the list is the passing down of our positions with a series of interviews to be held.

However, I have no regrets and disappointment anymore..

for I know we had did our very best already...

So it turned out to be true that volatile does means to be able to fly as Zhi Ting has informed me. Pretty surprising since even the Great Leonard didn't know of it.

THE DAY, HAS COME.

COME MY FRIENDS, TONIGHT WE PARTY

BECAUSE TOMORROW, WE FIGHT!

So the day of judgement has arrived. I'm looking expectational forward to tomorrow's battle. Not forgetting I am also awaiting for the photos of my many comrades taken today. Also, there is also the exclusive photo of Mr Quek posing on his car! I bet that's gonna hit headlines.

Gonna make this short, but I'm still gonna rant about the devasting news and obstacles we faced today.

The clavinova's adapter/cable is MISSING! Like who the hell did that! I swear that I am so gonna kill that person or those people which did it. We hadn't notice that the cable wasn't attached until we brought it down to Dance Studio.

We thought we could use the keyboard with adapter instead, in the end, it turned out the adapter of that is also MISSING! Everything that belongs to choir seems to be vanishing on its own or by some "mystic" force these days. So darn frustrating. We end up have to hold our practice at the Archives where our good old, but out of tune because it was left to collect dust for quite a few months and have not been tuned since then, is situated at.

Had to run up and down the whole day trying to resolve the problem at hand so that we won't be wasting each others precious time which is meant for us to be all geared up for the battle ahead tomorrow. I seriously ran and tried every way I can to minimise the damage done. I'm glad we managed to made it through too. Who ever that attempted to subotage us, failed miserably. If you think we are gonna be pulled down just like that, you are so damn wrong. You can't be any more mistaken.

That is gonna be all for today. Following up are articles from NewScientist.Com

String theory: A beginner's guide

* 12:01 15 April 2009 by Michael Marshall

String theory is one of the most famous ideas in modern physics, but it is also one of the most confusing.

At its heart is the idea that the fundamental particles we observe are not point-like dots, but rather tiny strings that are so small that our best instruments cannot tell that they are not points.

It also predicts that there are extra dimensions to space beyond the obvious length, breadth and depth, but we do not experience them because they are bunched up in tiny spaces.

While these notions are deeply strange, the key issue for string theorists has actually been the difficulty of testing their ideas.

Echo vision: The man who sees with sound

I am 6 years old and it's my first day at school. The bell rings for recess and all my classmates run gleefully away. But unlike them I cannot see. At least, not with my eyes. Instead, I click my tongue, listening for echoes from the wall to my left. I walk with my hands slightly outstretched to keep me from running into chairs that may have been left askew. I hear kids laughing and shouting through the open door, and by clicking I also hear the presence of the sides of the doorway in front of me. I go through it to the playground for the first time.

Phenylthiocarbamide
Phenylthiocarbamide, also known as PTC, or phenylthiourea, is an organic compound that either tastes very bitter, or is virtually tasteless, depending on the genetic makeup of the taster. The ability to taste PTC is a dominant genetic trait. The test to determine PTC sensitivity is one of the most common genetic tests on humans.

It all comes down to TWO DAYS..
Let the battle, commence.

Bit by bit we are improving and personally I my percentage of readiness for SYF on Thursday is rising, it is stopping at the present percentage of 93% until I really get my mood in it and clear up my errors and mistakes. However, as we are improving, we are also beginning to realise areas that we really need to clarify with Ms Yee. There are some pointers that we don't agree on even among the Music Commitee. Which isn't really very pleasant in anyway.

We are only 2 days away, and yet there are things that have not been confirmed, misunderstandings and issues that should have been brought up to the attention of all the leaders and cleared by Ms Yee. This is rather dissapointing, the way I see it.

Until now, we still have Sectional Leaders who are unsure of the gestures and instead of clearing up the errors and doubts, they chose escapism. They choose to deny the existence and skip the "rituals", all of them. Thinking that this would actually help. The purpose of doing the gestures is to get us warmed up with more ease, and eliminating our sole advantage is just as shooting ourselves in the leg. This seriously has gotta to be put to a stop. It ain't gonna protray us well infront of the juniors too.

I had remind myself not to sound agressive and instead was greeted with stares in practically all directions. As if I had just insulted their intelligence. If that is what they wish, then that might be as well what they get. As if the stress building up and date nearing isn't suffocating enough, they add on to the burden by selectively ignore details.

Praying to God is like talking to a friend

* 12 April 2009 by Andy Coghlan

IS PRAYER just another kind of friendly conversation? Yes, says Uffe Schjødt, who used MRI to scan the brains of 20 devout Christians. "It's like talking to another human. We found no evidence of anything mystical."

Schjødt, of the University of Aarhus, Denmark, and colleagues, asked volunteers to carry out two tasks involving both religious and "secular" activities. In the first task, they silently recited the Lord's Prayer, then a nursery rhyme. Identical brain areas, typically associated with rehearsal and repetition, were activated.

DISASTROUS!

There can only be one word to discribe today's practice, DISASTROUS.

Disastrous/adjective
1. causing great distress or injury; ruinous; very unfortunate; calamitous: The rain and cold proved disastrous to his health.
2. Archaic. foreboding disaster.

It fits like a T here now.

What the heck is wrong with these people. I seriously doubt blaming is gonna help but shouldn't we like question ourselves first? Not saying that it was totally wrong but you sort of went overboard by blaming others before yourself.

Okay, that still sounded bad, never mind me.

I'm not gonna start criticizing anyone before I blame myself. So I'm gonna blame myself, yea.

I made a foolish, very foolish to the gazillion, mistake. I allowed myself to lost focus when the final session was just only gonna last like 15 minutes. I totally conked out because of the freaking heat, cooped up in the freaking room.

Despite looking intensively at Ms Yee, I was still one of those who were looking yet not thinking. I really really have no idea what to do with myself. I'm like remembering a few points to take note, yet forgetting the rest and that's not all. What ever I forgot while singing, all went astronomical.

  1. I confess that I didn't follow Ms Yee. MAJOR MISTAKE.
  2. I confess I didn't think when I was singing. MAJOR, MAJOR MISTAKE.
  3. I confess I totally conked out and was rushing like a freaking Japan's famous Bullet Train, as if I was rushing to the Gates of Hell. MAJOR, MAJOR, MAJOR MISTAKE.
  4. I confess I conked out and came in at the wrong time. MAJOR, MAJOR, MAJOR, MAJOR MISTAKE.

I really am trying VERY VERY HARD to apply everything I learnt and heard, but it just didn't work out for me!!

I'm

REALLY,

REALLY

VERY SORRY!.

Thinking ahead, I really don't have any much rights to blame anyone else now, looking at my PUNISHABLE CRIME. I have made my point, and commented on the videos on YouTube. I'm gonna give in 40% more effort from my 150%.

I admit I might seem to be always joking, but I know my boundaries and knows went to be serious, I would never joke before a full song rehearsal/practice! I would never joke unless the room really looks that gloomy! I would never never joke unless I see Ms Yee trying to joke too!

All I really want for Choir is that everyone would enjoy a place in Choir, and everyone would truly work for the one goal we desire the most now. I know some of us thinks that this is the period of time that we shouldn't even joke at the slightest moments, but that would have defeated the purpose of being together. It wouldn't help getting everyone to sing better. It wouldn't get everyone to be energised. NO, it wouldn't. Looking gloomy won't never never help the situation.

Double standards wouldn't help either, not speaking up wouldn't help even the least too.

Let's just move on and learn the lesson, and truly be apologetic for what had happened just now. Thinking on the positive end, we won't fall flat after this anymore, right. Now that we learnt our places, we wouldn't be more careful and aware right. Pick up from where we fall, that beats anything else wouldn't it.

THE JOURNEY, MUST GO ON...
though the damage is done.

5 CENTIMETERS PER SECOND (5cm/s)

"I still like you even now."
"But, even if we were to exchange a thousand emails..."
"...our hearts would probably not move even one centimeter closer together."

Yesterday, I had a dream. A dream I have had since long ago. In that dream, we had yet to turn 13. We were in a vast countryside completely covered with snow, the lights of the houses extended far into the distance, a dazzling sight. We walked on the thick carpet of fresh snow, but did not leave any footprints. And like that, "Someday, we will be able to watch the cherry blossoms together again", both of us, without any doubts at all, that's what we thought.

5 Centimeter per Second Review.

I was just surfing on the net before I came across this movie. The pictures of the movie was attractive and immediately caught my attention.

Firstly, the whole graphic of the movie was rather amazing. I was even awed when I heard it is a hand-drawn animated movie. Much expected of the Japanese I guess. The whole plot was pretty sad and I held much hope that both the leads would get together at the end of the movie. But the sudden turn in events towards the end of the movie came as a shock to me. It felt like a slap on the face as I had expected that the movie would end happily ever after.

The scenes and animation used was amazing as well.
Quotes from source, "Everything from the shades of color in the sky, the shine of the stars, the snow, the rain, etc., was all carefully placed with amazing depth and precision."

It didn't affect me that there was little music incoorporated into the movie, it turned out well and made the exceptionally great artwork stood out much more.
"This is a movie whose aesthetics and animation quality can be appreciated by not just anime fans but anyone interested in art or cinematography."

Is dark energy getting weaker?

* 10 April 2009 by Rachel Courtland

AFTER billions of years of runaway expansion, is the universe starting to slow down? A new analysis of nearby supernovae suggests space might not be expanding as quickly as it once was, a tantalising hint that the source of dark energy may be more exotic than we thought.

Girl (XX) with Y chromosome sheds light on maleness (XY)

* 17:18 09 April 2009 by Ewen Callaway

A seven-year-old girl with a Y chromosome is providing new clues about a possible "master switch" of maleness.

The girl has the normal chromosome count – 46 – and should be male. Other children who have the male sex chromosome but do not appear to be boys have been found to have gene mutations that temper the Y chromosome's effects. However this child doesn't have ambiguous gonads, shrivelled testes or other developmental defects. She instead has a normal vagina, cervix and set of ovaries.

Love hormone boosts strangers' sex appeal

A chemical best known for cementing the bond between a mother and her newborn child could also play a part in picking mister (or miss) right. A new study shows that men and women who inhale a whiff of the hormone oxytocin rate strangers as more attractive.

When oxytocin courses through our blood, "we are more likely to see people we don't know in a more positive light," says Angeliki Theodoridou, a psychologist at the University of Bristol, UK, who led the new study.

So that was sort of dumb, but pretty cool for an advertisement I thought.

I'm still on the verge of screaming right smack in the face on some one. She never fails to get on my nerves these days. Double standards as usual and her pride. To hell with your double standards.

Gonna take a nice long break tomorrow and enjoy my day. Will also be gaming later on once I'm done with this.

Mdm Yaw showed the class her schedule for the rest of the year till our O's this morning. Got quite a shock. Much of it came from the sudden realisation that we have barely any time left before the Prelims is here. Not to mention the O's. She planned out a weekly topical test for each individual chapter and a set of Past Year Papers from the year 2000 to 2008. So that is how crazy this is gonna get. If she goes on to get us year 1999 and 1998, we are going to have the whole set of TYS for revision.

I was also reminded that SS and HY Department is also getting us to buy a set of Prelim papers of the various schools, which cost $15 each set. Will also be buying the "TYS" of English. Gosh, so many things to buy. If I'm not mistaken, LCL is requesting we buy another assessment book to. I'm so darn cash-tight. I wonder if Mr Pu is gonna do the same, get us past year papers or assessment books to do. Mrs Goh have already informed us quite awhile back that she is printing papers for us as revision, collated as a set for both Maths.

SPA Skill 3 Assessment is in like 2 Weeks. Wouldn't say I'm not worried but personally I felt that it is a lot easier to write and plan a experiment than to do an experiment. I guess I am a theoretically inclined person after all. However, I'm pretty worried on Bio SPA. I lack of confidence in Bio even though I have been doing pretty well this year. I'm afraid my foundations and the major topics that were taught last year is weak. Will have to revise on them heavily soon.

Other than that, Physics is a major sore thumb. I still can't really get the hang of Mr Pu's style of teaching. Which is bad. If I can't make adjustments or make plans to read up on my own, I won't be able to do well for Physics. Can't afford to let my favourite key subject to lose out to the rest. I'm gonna have to find a way out of this sticky situation by hook or by crook.

So that is the end of today's post.

Do aliens share our genetic code?

* 14:02 09 April 2009 by Lewis Dartnell

What similarities will alien life forms have to living things here on Earth? We won't know until we find some, but now there is evidence that at least the basic building blocks will be the same.

All terrestrial life forms share the same 20 amino acids. Biochemists have managed to synthesise 10 of them in experiments that simulate lifeless prebiotic environments, using proxies for lightning, ionising radiation from space, or hydrothermal vents to provide the necessary energy. Amino acids are also found inside meteorites formed before Earth was born.

7 Days and counting...

MESSY.STICKY.DANGEROUS.SITUATIONS.

Bet you haven't the slightest idea what's going on. Anyway, everything seems and should be fine as long as I maintain a distance away from those "gangsters". I'm worried about being all wacked up before my O levels. Darn, it just seems such a wrong desicion when I alerted Mrs Goh of what happened in the toilet back then.

The thought of it still shakes me even though I have been assured that they wouldn't dare to land a finger on me. Should they dare, I'm suppose to dail 999 for help. They have been warned and I truly hope they took it seriously. You see, even though they might get caught and stuff should they dare to wack me, I haven't got the slightest greater deal still. Think it this way, I get injured and I wouldn't be able to do my O's, what use would it for them to get caught?

Lucky for me, I'm not gonna leave myself empty handed. Not to mention let them think I'm gonna be an esasy target because I am from the top Express class, so I am supposed to be a nerd that is weak. No way, dude. I'm bringing a weapon to school everyday, until I truly feel safe after and before school. Don't ask what is it, cause I don't think that it should be anything you should know. I believe it is also against the school rules to be in possesion of such an item in school. Be assured that it is only for my self defence purpose and that it ain't exactly that dangerous. It is not a parang or rifle, so still cool yea?

That pretty much sums up what I have today.

Quantum lasers: Half light, half matter

* 08 April 2009 by Richard Webb

Lasers might be pushing 50, but they are still the youthful pin-ups of fundamental physics. Since the first one was unveiled in 1960, the more apocalyptic predictions of how they might be used - as death rays, for example - have proved to be overblown. Their peaceful application, on the other hand, can be seen everywhere from cutting and welding to combating cancer and cataracts, to powering telecoms and consumer electronics, and has mushroomed into an industry worth $6 billion in 2007. Advances in the laser lab translate into gadgets in our homes at astonishing speed: think of the progression from CD to DVD and now Blu-ray technology in just a few decades.

HAVE BEEN BUSY.

Well, it matters even lesser now whether I update my blog since nobody bothers to tag nor have many noticed I have moved and blah blah blah.

Anyway, I've got like 15 minutes before I really have start searching for definitions of words here and there. And today's topic of choice, is "Gossiping"

GOSSIP. HAVE YOU?
"Gossiping is part of humans nature."

I bet I gonna see a sea of hands up high. Well maybe a few other like myself would not fit the above statement, but according to my hypothesis and research, the above statement is very true. Many people gossip and talk behind peoples back in secretion. Be it among his/her clique or his/her siblings. As long as the other party is trustworthy not to spill the beans in front of the gossiped (if there is such a word).

I personally find such and act, disgusting. I hate to gossip and talk bad of others behind their back. I would much prefered the idea of going upfront to the person and attempt to "change" the person by telling him/her what I truly feel and think. I just find it rather despicable and hypocritical to be acting as if nothing has ever happened and yet be talking all the shit about some one else with your friend.

Also, I find gossiping almost childish and meaningless. You know how much I effort I make sure I do things with meaning, and gossiping is one meaningless thing that I wouldn't like to do. You gossip because you have unhappiness about the gossiped, however, talking behind their backs is not gonna change a single thing. So why are you gossiping?

I just see no meaning in gossiping from my point of view. I make an conscious effort to not gossip or talk bad about others behind their back. However, it is pretty subjective to say what is gossiping and what is not. "What is right and what is wrong would also differ from one to another."

People often ridicule and rebutt the above statement by saying, "Is killing a right thing to do, or not?" It is ridiculous to make such a comparison though. I stress that such a statement is no doubt almost as childish as a 5 year old toddler is. Ask a 5 year old toddler whether killing is a right thing to do, or not. Tell me his/her answer.

Maybe my explanation wasn't exactly explicit enough. To further simplify matters, killing is a bad thing not because our parents told us so. Neither is it the bishops, or other religious figures, the president, the teachers, not to mention even friends. It is more of like a default idea as the human brain develops as we grew up to around puberty age (average ages of 9 to 14 for girls and 10 to 17 for boys). The brain is default to recognise that killing or other "sins" are "sinful" and are never the slightest possible right thing to do in anyway.

So what do you think?
What lies in the black region? What lies in the white region? What is the grey region?

Saturday, April 04, 2009, 1:57 pm

We are almost there! Hang on tight, people!

The Choir is moving head on pretty well, not exactly at full speed, but I believe we are most probably not gonna fall flat on the big day though. I said I was like >75% ready for the big day on Thursday, and now, I'm thinking it is at 75% or slightly more.

However, I'm feeling rather bad about myself. Kept on repeating stupid mistakes that should have been drilled into the singing already. Came in at wrong places and stuffs. Prepared, yet not due to all these tiny tiny little mistakes. However petite they might be, together the are very significant in the ears of the judges.

Most importantly, the Choir would have to buck up on our pitching. It is still our deadliest problem ever still. We still tend to go off tune once in a while at certain parts. Even more crazy, we went out at a phrase or two, and got back on tune at the next. Most probably it was by memory that we went back on tune. If not by memory, it just only means that our pitching is extremely unstable. Gotta buck up on that.

Other than that, we still have to put in more conscious effort in remembering the 3 key points that Ms Yee had mentioned. That would most probably gonna be crucial in deciding what result would we get at the end of the race. Keep up the steady speed and we are gonna make it! Gambate ne!

That would be all for today I guess.

What would it look like to fall into a black hole?

* 21:46 01 April 2009 by Stephen Battersby

Video: Falling into a black hole would be a one-off sightseeing trip, so this simulation, calculated by Andrew Hamilton and his team at the University of Colorado, Boulder, is a safer option

Falling into a black hole might not be good for your health, but at least the view would be fine. A new simulation shows what you might see on your way towards the black hole's crushing central singularity. The research could help physicists understand the apparently paradoxical fate of matter and energy in a black hole.

I.HAVE.SERIOUSLY.SNAPPED.
so ... this.IS.the.end.

101 Facts/Opinions of Clarence on himself.

11. He suppresses every urge to snap everytime he gets to close to it ...
12. however, he has just SNAPPED.

To The Choir,

I would like to make an apology for what happened on the 1st of April. In the name of "Choir Relay", I spread the message that the choir was to meet outside the Music Centre at 0645hour in the morning.

As a result, this caused major problems for most people who received the message, as the message was relayed down. I seek your forgiveness and give you my greatest apology. I believe there is nothing much I can do to repay for what I had done that day. However, I am going to run 3 rounds around the school on Saturday, after Choir practice, as punishment for my over blown-up prank that caused much unwanted inconveniences.

That would no doubt be the one and only time it would ever happen, history will not repeat itself after today. Once again, with my greatest apologies, I seek your forgiveness.

Yours Sincerely,
Clarence Liu

ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT,

I HAVE TOLD YOU SO,

AND I'VE SNAPPED.

like a overstretched rubber band, I've snapped.

Linkin Park - Leave Out All The Rest

Linkin Park - Leave Out All The Rest

I dreamed I was missing
You were so scared
But no one would listen
Cuz no else cared
After my dreaming
I woke with this fear
What am I leaving
When I'm done here
So if you're asking me
I want you to know

CHORUS
When my time comes
Forget the world what I've done
Help me leave behind some
Reasons to be next
Don't resent me
When you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory
Leave out all the rest
Leave out all the rest

Don't be afraid
I've taken my beating
I've shared what I made
I'm strong on the surface
Not all the way through
I've never been perfect
But neither have you
So if you're asking me
I want you to know

CHORUS

Forgetting
All the hurt inside you've learned to hide so well
Pretending
Someone else can come and save me from myself
I can't be who you are

CHORUS

Forgetting
All the hurt inside you've learned to hide so well
Pretending
Someone else can come and save me from myself
I can't be who you are
