Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.

Morning practice today wasn't spectacular. Asyiqin didn't turned up. No idea why she didn't either, no explanation was given. Hopefully she does turn up tomorrow morning.

The pleasant and the slightly unpleasant memories flowed into my mind during the practice in the morning. Memories of the last SYF practice with the seniors that have already left and graduated. Memories of the practice before the Big Day, and remembering of how I hit Belinda by accident with a basketball while playing basketball with the girls.

The school is pretty proud of the Band's achievement. They pulled it through with much difficulty I must say. Going in as a 30-odd strength team, for a band, this is really rather small, but still they made it. I'm hoping, wishing very very hard that the Choir would also meet up to expectations, not just by the others, but from ourselves. A Silver that we want so badly.

Anyway, it is April Fools Day tomorrow! Zhi Ting attempted to make me her first 'victim' of her joke. Lucky for me, I was wondering and plotting of what to do tomorrow to make this final April Fools Day at BBSS a fufiling one. I seriously have a bad memory of things, had she caught me off guard, I would most probably have fell for it. Gonna have to try better tomorrow Zhi Ting!

Shall get going and maybe try to search for some feasible pranks and jokes I can play up tomorrow.

ja-na!~

April Fools' Day

April Fools' Day or All Fools' Day, although not a holiday in its own right, is a notable day celebrated in many countries on April 1. The day is marked by the commission of hoaxes and other practical jokes of varying sophistication on friends, family members, enemies, and neighbors, or sending them on fool's errand, the aim of which is to embarrass the gullible. Traditionally, in some countries, the jokes only last until noon: like UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, someone who plays a trick after noon is called an "April Fool". Elsewhere, such as in Ireland, France, and the USA, the jokes last all day. Another origin is that April 1 was counted the first day of the year in France. When King Charles IX changed that to January 1, some people stayed with April 1. Those who did were called "April Fools" and were taunted by their neighbors.

Nipple cripple

Also known as a "nipple twist", "ruby booby","tweak", "nipple gripple", "titty twister", or a "(purple) nurple", or "purple herbie". It is the act of taking a person's nipple between the thumb and forefinger and then twisting it around . On August 8, 2005, David Thumler, a 15-year-old living in Gold Hill, Oregon, was charged with a misdemeanor for perpetrating this act on 13-year-old Matthew Cox. Thumler was fined US$67 and given three days of community service.

Josh Groban - Smile

Smile - Josh Groban

Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
You'll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through for you

Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile what's the use of crying
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

When there are clouds in the sky you'll get by
If you smile
And maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through for you

Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile what's the use of crying
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

Battlefield lasers move a step closer

* 31 March 2009

"WE'RE doing our part to make gunpowder a 20th-century technology." So says Dan Wildt of Northrop Grumman, whose battlefield laser weapon passed another milestone last week.

In tests, it fired a 105-kilowatt beam - enough to destroy rockets, mortars and artillery shells - at a stationary target for 5 minutes. Unlike weapons such as Boeing's huge Airborne Laser, which burns chemical fuel, the solid-state laser consists of semiconductors that emit light when a voltage is applied. This makes them much smaller, allowing them to fit on the back of a "ruggedised" truck. They can also run on electricity from a diesel generator.

The laser weapon will ultimately pinpoint, track and destroy a rocket up to a couple of kilometres away, claims Northrop Grumman.

Ash Like Snow - The Brilliant Green

I'm slowly building up confidence in this race to success. The Choir indeed have been making tiny steps of improvement, but now and then, the improvement would leap beyond expectations. An example would be perhaps today. The practice was pretty satisfactory here on my side. I wonder how it is gonna be like tomorrow morning for the morning practices.

Memories are flowing in by the moment too. Some one took away the keys to the cabinets of the Music Centre that belongs to the Choir, except for only one. Wondering what could it have went. But looking on the bright side, we used the ancient CD player that was used by the choir at least 2-3 years ago, back when I and the rest were still relying on CD Players and doing just as well as now.

I have quite a list of things that I wanna do. Such as writing a CORNY short love story with my limited vocab and creativity. I also wanna do some music creation, maybe write songs again, with my limited knowledge a bad experiences. There are just so many things I wanna do these days. However, there are just so many factors that are restricting my options.

10 RANDOM FACTS/OPINIONS OF CLARENCE ON HIMSELF.

  1. He thinks it is cool to sing a the lift.
  2. He finds the acoustics of the bathroom great.
  3. He knows that he is not the best choice for a boyfriend ...
  4. but he thinks he makes a great choice as a confidant.
  5. He believes that he can sing ...
  6. even though he may not be the best of the rest.
  7. He believes he very tolerant and patient ...
  8. but at the expense of being hot-headed and bad tempered at times.
  9. He thinks it is extremely cool to be in a choir ...
  10. even though he thinks of singing solo one day in front of proper audience.

This is just the tip of the ice berg (*whispers* Wow, Clarence just used an idiom!) I'm gonna plan out and store up as many random facts I can come up with and hopefully I would have a list of "101 Random Facts/Opinions of Clarence on himself."

Anyway, I must get going. It is 2127 on my clock now.
Got work to be done.

Earth Hour!

Earth Hour is a global event organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and is held on the last Saturday of March annually, asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. Earth hour was conceived by WWF and the Sydney Morning Herald in 2007, when 2.2 million residents of Sydney participated by turning off all non-essential lights. Following Sydney's lead, many other cities around the world adopted the event in 2008.

Reference to Wikipedia.Org.

So what were you doing when Earth was on last night, 2030 to 2130?

The effect of globalisation is once again seen as the world participates in this event. It is true that a household alone would not be able to significantly decrease the rate of global warming just by shutting down all non-essential electrical appliances for an hour. But done world wide, the effect should be felt. However, this alone is not gonna be sufficient to truly stop global warming in its tracks yet.

I'm feeling sort of moody. For the Harry Potter Fans, I have not become Mad-Eye Moody. Just went to check on Dictionary.Com for the definition of the word, "effing" as I once again read "H.P and the Deathly Hallows". Didn't expect that the definition is truly what I thought it would be, as it seems like a slang and also is a vulgarity.
eff⋅ing/ef-ing/adjective, adverb Slang.
(used as an intensifier).

Origin:
1940–45; euphemism for fucking, with ef as spelled form of the name of the initial letter.

Manage to prepare myself for filing up my Math and A Math files. As in to say I managed to dig up everything I might need to file up. However, I lost my Content page. Gonna need to ask from Mrs Goh or something. Haven't done the last few integration questions on A.Math either. The excuse, is that my pen has ran out of ink, need to get a new pen tomorrow in school after which, I shall complete it.

Turns out my Vocab English assesment book is in the school locker. Had previously thought it is at home. Gosh. Gonna have to dig it out of the locker tomorrow and complete the over due work.

Gonna get moving.

Today's rehearsal at VCH and practice in school was pretty awesome. I'm begining to get back my confidence on the coming SYF. I wouldn't say I was extremely shock, since this should be the standard of the choir it should have been isn't it? That's what the BBSS Choir is made of, isn't it?! Maybe, that sounded abit high up in the skies. Never mind me.

However, all the more we should not slackened and be complacent about the whole competetion. It was pretty surprising that some of the Sec 3's are allowed to return and join the team once again. However, sadening that not all are allowed.

For those that won't be able to, they lost the one and only chance I guess. I sincerely hope you guys out there will not forsake and give up choir. There are still many other performances that the choir is gonna be involve after the SYF. For example, the coming AAC.

I just love my two extremely interesting teachers, Mrs Goh and Ms Lau. They are darn humourous and funny, Mrs Goh is also exceptionally motherly too. I have never seen teachers like the two.

Math lessons are never boring with Mrs Goh teaching, there are always short moments of humour by Mrs Goh to liven up the atmostphere and destress ourselves. Ms Lau is also rather interesting and funny too. She always have alot of tales to share in the lessons. This makes the lesson interesting and it never fails to ease the dull and boring atmostphere.

Enough about me I suppose, moving on, here comes more articles!

When he went out walking he said the same birds sang in the same trees and the same cars drove past at the same time every day. His doctor said he should see a memory specialist, but Mr P refused. 2. They SMS with a speed and frequency that makes my own thumbs sore from sympathy pains.
  3. They admit they are apathetic, and speak about it passionately.
  4. They complain about the lack of culture on their school campuses, then immediately go back to studying.
  5. They wear their emotions and intentions on their chests in the form of T-shirt sayings. A few of my favourites: 'Little Miss Giggles', 'I SMS Your Mum' and 'Are We Having Any Fun?'
  6. They are extremely quiet in class, but downright chatty one-on-one.
  7. They love David Beckham. They lust after George Clooney.
  8. Apparently, procreation is not their forte. At this point in their lives, they could not care less.
  9. Marriage is not yet on most of their minds. Instead, they say they want to keep getting red packets of some kind.
  10. Romance is not an art many young males here have mastered. I recently overheard two young women complaining that their boyfriends had surprised them on Valentine's Day with gifts - a schoolbag and an external hard drive.
  11. They are incredibly, falsely, modest. They know they rock. Just don't tell them to their face. They'll look at you like you insulted their mother.
  12. They are way too polite. I asked a young woman to take my picture in front of the Merlion. After she snapped the shot, she thanked me - apparently for the once-in-a-lifetime chance to capture me on film.
  13. Speaking of photos, they pose for them everywhere. I recently saw a group of students smile for multiple pictures with their taxi driver at Clarke Quay. He was smiling too. The meter was running.
  14. A few engage in 'serious blogging', but most just blog about their friends and pets and upload pictures of last night's dinner.

  16. They remain sceptical of their country's growing global status, often asking me 'Why would you want to come here?'
  17. They already express nostalgia for days gone by, at the ripe old age of 17.
  18. The few young men who have long hair seem to be teased mercilessly by friends, and hit on frequently by strangers.
  19. They catch catnaps at the most unlikely locations - bus stops, campus canteens, even the school library.
  20. Their eyes have a tint of worldliness to them, especially the young men who have been through national service.
  21. They passionately watched something called 'The Little Nyonya' until recently, but not all will admit it publicly.
  22. They think it is funny that Singapore has a professional basketball team.
  23. They love their parents, but they definitely do not tell them everything.
  24. They love to dance ... (and sing...)
  25. But it does not mean they have rhythm.

ZOMG.

The
one and only precious rehearsal at VCH is tomorrow! SYF once again seems so near. In fact, it is really very near with only twenty odd days away.

School was pretty great today, even LCL's lesson was nothing near terrible. Everything seems so peaceful. However, could this be the peace before the storm? SA1 is nearing and I haven't started on my revision. It is gonna have to start soon as it would be on everything since the beginning of last year till the very last we are gonna complete by then.

Not to forget about SPA Skill 3 which is gonna be held a few days before SA1. Gonna have to brush up on our theory if we wanna do well for it this time. Just like what Mdm Yaw had mentioned, "Do you want to do badly for your SPA Skill 3 like what you did for the previous two?" (Not exactly her words.)

Also, 20% of our O levels Pure Sciences is gonna be sealed by mid year after SPA Skill 3 is done. I'm getting more and more pessimistic by the moment these days. No longer able to look on the bright side as frequent and positively as I used to. Perhaps it is the pressure faced by the SYF that is coming up. I'm losing the confidence that I use to have in what ever I do lately. Once again, perhaps this might be a good thing. At least, Mdm Yaw won't have any excuse to label me as "Overly Confident".

Why the pope is wrong on HIV transmission
Debora MacKenzie, Brussels correspondent

According to reporters present at the time, it's true. On a flight to Yaoundé in Cameroon, his first trip as pope to Africa, home of two-thirds of the world's AIDS sufferers, Pope Benedict XVI really did say that AIDS is a "drama that cannot be overcome through the distribution of condoms, which on the contrary increase the problem."

UNAIDS, the UN umbrella organization fighting the global AIDS pandemic, was quick to respond: "the male latex condom is the single, most efficient, available technology to reduce the sexual transmission of HIV."

Is the pope from another planet? Is he stupid? Uneducated? No, obviously not. Does he know something we don't? No. But that might not be so obvious to everyone.

Then all the lights in the state go out. Within 90 seconds, the entire eastern half of the US is without power.

A year later and millions of Americans are dead and the nation's infrastructure lies in tatters. The World Bank declares America a developing nation. WALKING.. AWAY...

I'm walking away..from the troubles in my life.
I'm walking away...oh~ to find a better day.

Well, I'm glad it is over. I got last for both events in the heats. Gosh, totally threw my face flat on the tracks and stomped over by the many other stronger, faster and better runners. I feel majorly pathetic and insignificant now.

Looking at the bright sight, however bleak and insignificant, I don't have to run and lose my face infront of the 1000 over people that would be watching on Sports Day. I don't have to face greater pressure and jeers from the crowd either.

I still remember Kwang Teng jeering at me from the audience's stand. Hell does she know that I had actually have to go through a round of heats before being qualified to run on the actual day. I still remember how I ran race after race, one after another two years ago, having qualified for 100m, 200m and 400m.

Arrifin ran the best for both the events he took part, as expected of him I guess. The legend they call him some times. I wonder who is faster between him and Hafeez. Hafeez seems to have a better stamina as I infer from his run in the Cross-country.

Anyway, looking forward, I have many other things to worry about. In particular, SYF Central Judging! I'm so darn tired and my arms are aching. Think I tense my arms abit too much during the run just now. Gosh.

This blog is starting to stray further and further away from being just purely a Science blog these days.

Anyway, I managed to complete most of my homework with only English as the only exception. I wonder how is Mrs Toh gonna react to that tomorrow. Gosh. I am most definitely gonna get in some form of trouble.

I haven't done Physics either, but that has little to worry of since there is no Physics tomorrow. Definitely will take awhile to complete it though since it is meant for the holidays and we only got it like a few days ago.

Of course there are the overdue work like filing of my Maths files, etc.

Enough of the crappy crappy stuffs, I pretty tired now. Went to down to the basketball court to play for a few hours. It does exhaust quite a bit of me I guess. My eyes feels pretty dry too.

Been having a bad premonition about SYF this afternoon. I just don't feel exactly right about it no matter how I think today, everything just seems so unsure and unsteady. Our future all of the sudden seem so blurry and unconvincing now. I'm very worried. Please tell me my worries are empty. We will get a Silver, right?

Under normal circumstances, your sense of self is firmly anchored inside your body. Sometimes, though, something goes awry, the connection between body and self breaks down and you have an out-of-body experience.

Such moments occur when brain function is disturbed, such as after a stroke or epileptic seizure, or while on drugs. In 2007, however, two research teams independently reported ways of inducing an out-of-body experience in the lab in normal healthy people.

Occlumency.
"An obscure branch of magic, but a highly useful one."
-- Severus Snape (OP24)

occulto - (Latin) to hide, conceal, cover (the English word 'occlude' comes from this root, as well as the modern astronomy terms about one celestial body hiding another from view)

mens - (Latin) mind

Occlumency is the art of magically defending the mind against external penetration, sealing it against magical intrusion and influence - the defensive counter to Legilimency. A practitioner of Occlumency is referred to as an Occlumens.

Reference to http://www.hp-lexicon.org/magic/occlumency.html
A deep art of the conceal the thoughts of the mind indeed. Leonard terms my "craze" over Harry Potter saga and the Twilight saga as acts of immature. However, what is truly mature? Who/What defines some elses maturity level?

Going back to the most definite way of providing answers to questions like this, would be to trace it back to its definition.

Mature \muh-toor, -tyoor, -choor, -chur\, adjective
  1. fully developed in body or mind, as a person: a mature woman
  2. intended for or restricted to adults, esp. by reason of explicit sexual content or the inclusion of violence or obscene language: mature movies.
  3. composed of adults, considered as being less susceptible than minors to explicit sexual content, violence, or obscene language, as of a film or stage performance: for mature audiences only.
Reference to Dictionary.Com

As we can see from the 3 definitions I have acquired, it is doubtless to say no one can truly measure and define what exactly is being mature.

Anyway, I began to realise how much I like to play with my food, as in figuratively. I seem to like to plot things ahead and see how to fall for it, no matter how tiny the booby trap I might have set for them. I just sorts of intrigues me how people react and how creative and wild my idea of a joke might get.

Well, of course, it usually tend to stray a bit of course here and there, but nevertheless still interesting. I like the feeling of being in control I guess. Controlling peoples emotion, mind, thoughts and action makes me feel.. sort of great. It is quite a cool feeling I guess. Maybe you should try that some time.

Alot of times, people tend to measure the qualities of those around him/her with respect to himself/herself. However, due to this, people are blinded by their own defaults and strenghts and as such, very often wrong judgement is made of those people around them. I would say that person has a pretty big ego, wouldn't you agree too?

That would be all for today.

Managed to pick up the pen and did my Chinese Assesment book that LCL wanted us to do so much. Only completed one and a half or so. Will have to complete it tomorrow. I still have Math, Physics and English homework to be done. English shouldn't take very long, neither should Math. Physics might turn out to be abit of problematic, but can drag it off for some time behind I guess.

* 15:30 18 March 2009 by Sandrine Ceurstemont

Video: Ultimate virtual reality

Imagine a virtual experience that you can't distinguish from reality.

Researchers from the University of York and the University of Warwick, both UK, are working on plans for a device able to manipulate five of a person's senses, to given them the sensation of being somewhere else.

I AM exhausted! The exchange was rather crappy. Many thought it was pretty badly done, I on the other hand thought it wasn't exactly that bad. Of course, we still have quite a journey ahead before we can truly secure a Silver.

Anyway, should anyone from the Choir feel that we are going to get a COP, I think you seriously should quit now. You are most definitely gonna affect our performance with such a mindset.

Why chose to become a burden and bring the whole thing down when you should be taking up the pride and responsibility and bring the choir to greater heights. It is because we are who we are that we stand here today. Be proud that you are part of the family. Be confident of what you do and be responsible for every action you do that might just cause the choir to achieve a COP after so many years or a Gold.

After the exchange, we waited for Mr Pu who went for lunch and did our experiment. It was rather crappy too as I made quite alot of amendments with me experiment so as to achieve better measurements here and there.

Had lunch with Clara, Leonard, Sharon, Yi Jun (in alphabetical order) at KFC, Westmall, after that. Clara left slightly earlier and Sharon suggested about going to CSC to play bowling. Quite surprise but still we did. Had to take some time to convince Leonard to play bowling with us. If it had been the guys who asked him to join us to play, most probably we would have went up on 985 back then. But as it was the girls who requested, he had no reason to deny them. Not to mention it was Sharon who asked him to stick along.

Sharon only told us that she had only 50cents with her when we reach the place. Leonard sort of sponsored her, as they played alternatively, while Yi Jun and I both took up one game each. They aren't good at the game but at least they tried. I'm pretty glad that I passed the 70 mark and got 101. Which reminded me of the 101 Dalmations. I was asking if Leonard had a childhood, coz' he would need to have one to know of the 101 Dalmations. Well, turns out he does have a childhood.

EDITED:
We stayed around and played a game at the arcade, it was Sharon's suggestion to play at the arcade as she THOUGHT she had 50cents with her. Then in the end when we asked for 50 cent to play, she could only dig out a 10cent coin. Darn hilarious. Leonard and Yi Jun paid the rest I think. Gosh.

Leonard was pretty hilarious himself too. Kept on forgeting his wallet. So the girls and I took turns to keep his wallet from him. Well, I couldn't lie very well, so were the girls. We ended up giving him back his wallet everytime round.

I was pretty sure that I told Jing Wen that I was going to go home and do my homework after my Physics SPA practice. In the end, it turned out to be an excuse to join the girls at lunch and a game of bowling with Leonard too. Will have to finish up the chinese essay later on, can't have An Hua waiting for me to send in it to be checked and edited. Still have 3 Chinese Mock Papers to do too. Tired! Gonna stay at home and do them tomorrow morning, while after I have finished with the Chinese essay, I'm gonna enjoy a game of DotA.

Don't worry that I am addicted to it, I am only playing around a game a day or so. Will promise and make sure I don't get addicted on to it again. At least not before O's are over.

朋友不嫌少,知己不嫌多。

Having a lot of friends is in no par with true friends or bosom friends. You never need to worry having too little friends, but you will never feel that you have sufficient bosom friends in life. I personally find that very true. There are like plentiful of friends everywhere, but you might never seem to find a bosom friend at every corner of your life.

You Are Loved (Don't Give Up) - Josh Groban

"You Are Loved (Don't Give Up)"

Don't give up
It's just the weight of the world
When your heart's heavy
I...I will lift it for you

Don't give up
Because you want to be heard
If silence keeps you
I...I will break it for you

Everybody wants to be understood
Well I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don't give up
Because you are loved

Don't give up
It's just the hurt that you hide
When you're lost inside
I...I will be there to find you

Don't give up
Because you want to burn bright
If darkness blinds you
I...I will shine to guide you

Everybody wants to be understood
Well I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don't give up
Because you are loved

You are loved
Don't give up
It's just the weight of the world
Don't give up
Every one needs to be heard
You are loved

This is the second post of the day. Had totally forgot to post about tomorrow's Choir exchange. Can't wait for it, both positively and negatively that is. Positive side of it is that we are definitely gonna learn something out of this exchange. Negatively, we are most probably get ourselves killed in exchange for the learning experience.

Anyway, it seems like I do have problem communicating with girls this days. It is either they get on my nerves, or I get on their nerves. It never seem to end well in any conversation with any girl. Faggot. Not the tiniest happy now, totally spoilt any bit of happiness that was in me. Nothing seems to be right these days I guys. My time is not to be I guess. Argh.

I feel like killing someone, well, infact two. However, I don't think I can do myself any justice by murdering anyone now either.

elucidate \ih-LOO-si-dayt\, transitive verb:
To make clear or manifest; to render more intelligible; to illustrate; as, an example will elucidate the subject.

And so I got into tons of trouble these days. Nothing seems to be working out well anymore. I can feel the burning fury right behind me even now. It is no doubt that it will only get worse tomorrow. Like hell I know what to do to now. I feel exactly like a headless roach, no where to turn too. It is like a dead end before me, there I stand at the edge of the cliff with pursers on my Archille's heels, it is either I jump or not. This kind of remind me of the Titanic, just the fact that no one will be willing to jump along with me into the bottomless pit.

I doubt I have anyone to transfer my anger upon now. Seeing I can't, absolutely can't get mad at someone, nor the other one and not to mention least try to anger her again. Gosh. Please tell me I'm dreaming.

Enough said of the sad, misery business for now, I happened to chance upon this "Urban dictionary" site as I was trying to find the meaning of headdesk. Couldn't find it on Dictionary.com but it led me to another site. You guys should check it out, pretty interesting.

If you ever get tired of http://dictionary.reference.com/ you could check out http://www.urbandictionary.com/

So ya, that should be the end of this post.
Hope I live through the rest of the few months before I graduate.

SEEMS like my post on Girls/Women date on Sundday attracted some certain attention.

Chean Pin is like representing the Singapore Women's Association, speaking in rebutt to the contents of my post on Sunday. I recommend you should check out her blog too. It seems to scream, "Support Singapore Women's Association!" By the way, some one should recommend her to join SWA to speak up for the rights of women. Almost no doubt, Ruth would gladly be next on the list.

Ruth most probably would have a thousand word essay for me when she sees the Sunday and Monday post just looking at the reaction by Chean Pin. I wouldn't be surprise if that someone blasts at me too come to think of it now.

And I believe the saying of guys from Mars and ladies from Venus did not evolve itself from my mouth too.

Speaking of sayings and quotes, Chean Pin happens to have one on her blog on the issue too.
"Hell hath no fury like women scorned."
That definitely answered to the reaction made by her. By the way, I don't IRRITATE girls for a living.

Hell knows what this generation of girls are feed with - with a temper most probably. I thought I just got trailed, but according to Kellie, "you just got capital punishment. crimes against the female population cannot be condoned." - as quoted from Kellie.

I should get going by now, have work to be completed. Still haven't get my Chemistry CA1 paper signed, it is awful. Not to mention, I have my CA1 report slip to be signed too, that doubles it.

I would normally be proud that I got 4As, 3A1s and 1A2, but not this time round when I failed my English. I seem to be serving sentences everywhere. It also seems like failing English makes me one class lower than anyone else these days. I truly question how do I use to pass my English these days, have I lost my supposed 'touch' in English? Or should I ask, "Is it me or the standard just seemed to got higher?"

I must be going, adios~

Review on Ruth's ENGLISH Primarily blog.

It's a thrill to read Ruth's blog occasionally with all the words that I could stumble upon and like Qinli says, "I always have to leave a tab open for dictionary.com when i read ur blog". That is how interesting her blog entries can get.

It is totally at poles with what you would see here on my blog or worse, on HJ aka Henry's blog. In some comparison, it is my blog filled with Scientific Discoveries and Facts for the Nerds and Science Freaks to Ruth's 101 Rescue Measures to save the world from the English Language Corrosion. Although, it seems like the general population find hers more intriguing.

And when it comes to humour, it is Henry's Full of Bullshit Humour to Ruth's Cold Sacarstic Humour. See the relation? Then again, the two forms of humour produce different results and attract different audiences as they pertain for different group of audiences.

So if you have yet to see blogs of Henry's or Ruth's, do check them out. Their links are on 'Exits'.
Or if you are looking for a female version of Henry's kinda of posts, maybe you could check out Jacelyn's blog.

adjective

2. hard to deal with, manage, or operate.
noun
3. a recalcitrant person.

Haven't been doing much on my studies today. Mainly just enjoying time while I can. Have completed much of my Chemistry Homework which is, according to Clara, due on Wednesday. I still have an English Reflection essay/exercise to do too.

The matter at hand is still unresolved, and I am most probably just gonna let it be since the chances of turning the tables is near zero. So might as well hope that she would forget about it some day, but that sounds awfully bad too.

Imagine having done something bad to someone and never ever been able to apologize and recieve forgiveness and by the time you want to seek forgiveness, the person has already forgotten about the issue. That is ironic and tragic I would say. It is once again the Regret of not being about to be forgiven and the Dissapointment that you never get to recieve forgiveness from the person. Tragic indeed. Let's just see how my case goes along with time.

Shall make an attempt to seek forgiveness after she has appeased. Who knows, I might just do something nice without conciously knowing and appease her of her fury and anger even before I seek forgiveness. That would be pretty cool.

That will be all for today's post.

scintilla \sin-TIL-uh\, noun:
A tiny or scarcely detectable amount; the slightest particle; a trace; a spark.

I just don't get how could a scintilla remark could spark such anger in people. I really didn't meant any harm. I admit that there is no way calling some one 'baka' could be something nice, but I really didn't meant it that way..

How can girls be so sensitive and so petty? I truly wonder how can one get mad at some one for such a scintilla remark for weeks.

HAD actually planned to study and do homework this afternoon, in the end, I end up being at Bukit Batok playing basketball and walking around Westmall with Yi Jun, Marvina and Jing Wen.

We went all the way to Bukit Batok and play basketball at the back of the school, so that we have an indoor court to play in. In the end it turned out that there was a competition going on. Stayed awhile to watch the first quarter and then went to the half court slightly further from the school to play around.

Pretty boring playing with them though. They didn't put up much of a challenge. Not trying to imply that I'm great, just yea.. lack of the challenge essence in it.

Got home on the bus with Jing Wen only to find out that I had actually inflicted so much harm on to someone just by calling some one 'baka'. I really don't understand how could that have been so impactful, if there is such a word. It has been like weeks and I have long ago apologised. I just doesn't makes sense that some one would hate some one so badly for so long for something so trivial.

Girls.. Well, someone did brought up a question. "Why are guys so insensitive?" which was in rebutt to my statement on "Why are girls so petty?" I guess maybe it should end up as quits. It is just so frustrating sometimes when you just can't seem to understand what girls think deep down. And guys have to go on rubbing their heads for an answer to everything girls do.

That could be said the same for girls too I guess. It is just like how people use to say that guys comes from Mars while girls comes from Venus.

Oh well.. I should get going.

ONCE AGAIN I am still darn tired!!

I went down to colin's place to play basketball yesterday while Daryl and Eddie were at the CCK gym. Never knew there was once in CCK. Then after a few hours they came along. Nicholas was darn funny, he attempted to thunder the ball over a tall wall over one of the walls of the tennis court. He ended up throwing it into the court and made Colin went down to get the key to open up the locked tennis court. Darn foolish.

Daryl, Eddie, Nicholas, Edmund, Jun Zhi and I wasn't satisfied enough and so we walk our way down to play at Limbang Park. It was pretty packed with lots of Pinoi, which apparently means Phillipines. There was also this Lakers guy who was extremely tall, which I was not mistaken was about to dunk perfectly.

However that was not the highlight of the day. We asked a game and as they were all alot other than us, they sort of looked down at us. They send out the not so good players among their friends to play with us. What respect is that? What's more throughout the whole game they played darn rough, and in response to that we also put up a fight back at them. Then they slowly sent down the better players to play with us. Darly and Nicholas intercepted a lay out each from the opponent and did us proud. That angered the Pinois pretty much though.

Then there was this Chinese man in his 20s-30s who came forward and did a layout right pass me. Not to mention he intentionally knocked his arms against mine, he walked pass me and said, "And1." He was darn proud about being able to And1 some one who is alot shorter and younger than him, how pathetic is that. Nicholas heard that too and decided to do some thing about it too. He dribble his way up in fron of him and did a fake right infront of him, in which he reacted to, and proudly said, "And1" too.

The whole didn't go veyr nice anyway, we gave up trying to fight back as they had totally no respect for us, so were their friends. They kept on laughing loudly at the stairs where they sat, assuming that we didn't heard anything.

I felt darn pathetic though, I felt weak. I wanna be better, faster, stronger. I am determine to not get looked down in future. I am gonna defeat them some day, I'm sure of it. I'm gonna work hard on my studies and after the O's, I'm gonna enjoy my break by trainning to be better, faster and stronger in basketball.

I and quite a number in Sec 4's sort of failed the audition today at choir, but partly because we were Sec 4's too, Ms Yee allowed us to pass, since we were still rather stable just a few hicups here and there. I had thought I was going to fail for sure as I went a few notes higher at the end due to much influence from Yi Jun and Sue Yi's attempt to blast her way out from being influence.

Oh well. The day ended pretty solemn as we had to decide who to keep and who to take out from the team going for the SYF this year. It is pretty sad that some people had to drop it, but I could say it is for the better good. If I was pulled out of the competetion, I would definitely feel disgraced and awfully sad about it, but if it is for the sake of choir, that I would not harm the choir and stop it from getting a Gold that it could very deserve then maybe it was the right choice.

What's more important now is that we work hard and solve our pitching problems so that we can assure ourselves that we will not be heavily penalised for singing off tune when we could be getting a Gold with our other aspects in singing and stuffs. Gambate!

That's all for today's post. Gotta go get some rest.

Thursday, March 12, 2009, 6:20 pm

TIRED! I am darn exhausted from the run in the morning and the choir practice in the afternoon. It is taking a toll out of me, I need some rest after this. I'm glad that I don't have to worry about the Chinese essay anymore as Derrick has done it. However, there is A.Math Common Test tomorrow! So after this post, I'm most probably gonna get some sleep before dinner is done.

I didn't do as well as I thought I could for the x-country earlier on this morning. I had expected myself to get into Top 50. However, I guess I just can't run well enough anymore. I didn't have the excuse of not wearing a fitting attire, nor that I was carrying a bag, like I did last year, nor that I have stitches. I can almost say that I was in top condition this morning for the run. I could choose to blame that I am not exactly in top health condition as I am still having a cough, but I didn't have much difficulty breathing for it to affect my run.

All I can say that I lack of trainning and I have a weak mind. I gave up too easily I guess. I couldn't hold onto my speed for more than around 2km and soon began to stop and slow down. Had I had a great perserverance than maybe I would have gotten myself a place in top 50. That would have been something conforting as compared to having no recognition at all.

It was sad that HongZhang only got 15 in the level though. He could have done better if not for his leg injury. KC slacked much at the start of the race and as a result, he didn't do as well as he could either. Same goes to Roy.

What's over is over, but I had quite a great experience this year, even though I am rather mad at myself for losing out to Yuen Kai and Roger Poh.

I dedicated a song to the Choir after the run too. Everyone would most probably have heard it, although something cropped up. I think I have to check my handwriting some time. Why issit that people tend to mistake my letter 'u' as 'n'? Issit that hard to differentiate between the two? The DJ read my name as Clarence LIN, instead of Clarence LIU. Gosh. Anyway, they didn't have Thunder by Boys Like Girls, so instead I chose Mad by Ne-Yo. I was surprised when they played one of the song in David Archuleta's album. Should have picked one of the other in the song, but oh well.

So after the run, I and JingWen thought we could go up to Roy's place to bath. Last minute he turn back on his word, saying his father is at home so we can't go up his house.

Oh well, so we all went back to our homes. Jing Wen, Yu Sheng, Dion and I took the MRT back home. They retold the tale of how Jing Wen made two guys from some church, who gave them a survey to fill, go mad. Jing Wen totally own their asses by rebutting practically they say in contrast to his beliefs.

They were actually trying to convince the trio to change religion and stuff, but Yu Sheng and Dion can't be bothered and just agreed to whatever the two said. Jing Wen wasn't nice at all though, and so the guy decided to bombard him in all directions, but in futile. He got real fed up apparently.

Practice wasn't spectacular, but pretty well done. The choir seems to be pretty on form today. Could it be the run? Maybe we should all run everytime before practice starts. Joking! So before I left for home, I stayed behind to do a 15min extra practice with the boys on the Russian song. After that, by the request of Chean Pin, stayed back to do the Russian song with Sharon, Kellie and Chean Pin again.

That would be all for today. Gonna get some sleep.

How to find the Sun's long-lost siblings

* 11 March 2009 by Govert Schilling

Call it stars reunited. It should now be possible to find the lost siblings of our own Sun.

Most relatively massive stars are born in broods, or clusters, rather than alone. And the Sun appears to be no different - meteorites show evidence of a supernova that exploded near the infant Sun, and the orbits of icy bodies in the outer solar system appear to have been shaped by a close encounter with one of the Sun's siblings.

But over the last few billion years, these stars have gone their separate ways, blending in among the galaxy's myriad background stars.

Mass hysteria breaks out in central America

An outbreak of mass hysteria is reported to have struck three indigenous communities living near the river Coco in northern Nicaragua. A total of 43 people have reportedly fallen ill with what is known locally as grisi siknis ("crazy sickness").

Doctors, anthropologists and sociologists who have studied previous cases of mass hysteria – also known as mass psychogenic illness – have so far failed to come up with any clear explanation for the phenomenon.

Linda Geddes spoke to Elie Karam of St George Hospital University Medical Centre in Beirut, Lebanon, who studied an outbreak of mass hysteria in Lebanon during 2004, to discover what we currently know.

Thunder - Boys Like Girls

Today is a winding road
That's taking me to places that I didn't want to go, whoa
Today in the blink of an eye
I'm holding on to something and I do not know why I tried

I tried to read between the lines
I tried to look in your eyes
I want a simple explanation; what I'm feeling inside
I gotta find a way out
Maybe there's a way out

Your voice was the soundtrack of my summer
Do you know you're unlike any other?
You'll always be my thunder, and I said
Your eyes are the brightest of all the colors
I don't wanna ever love another
You'll always be my thunder
So bring on the rain
And bring on the thunder

Today is a winding road
Tell me where to start and tell me something I don't know, whoa
Today I'm on my own
I can't move a muscle and I can't pick up the phone, I don't know

And now I'm itching for the tall grass
And longing for the breeze
I need to step outside, just to see if I can breathe
I gotta find a way out
Maybe there's a way out

Your voice was the soundtrack of my summer
Do you know you're unlike any other?
You'll always be my thunder, and I said
Your eyes are the brightest of all the colors
I don't wanna ever love another
You'll always be my thunder
So bring on the rain
And bring on the thunder

Yeah I'm walking on a tightrope
I'm wrapped up in vines
I think I'll make it out but you just gotta give me time
Strike me down with lightning
Let me feel you in my veins
I wanna let you know how much I feel your pain

Today is a winding road
That's taking me to places that I didn't want to go, whoa

Your voice was the soundtrack of my summer
Do you know you're unlike any other?
You'll always be my thunder, and I said
Your eyes are the brightest of all the colors
I don't wanna ever love another
You'll always be my thunder
And I said

Your voice was the soundtrack of my summer
Do you know you're unlike any other?
You'll always be my thunder
So bring on the rain
Oh baby bring on the pain
And listen to the thunder

I'm currently, suddenly addicted onto this song. Gonna attempt to learn the acoustic tabs for this song. However, I bet that is gonna take me ages unless..Clara or someone is willing to lend me a hand and teach me how to play the chords.

Ja-na.

Things just can't return to the way it was before anymore...
Time can't be reversed, so let's just let the past be gone.

How was that? Like that opening?

Well it is frustrating to be reminded of memories that were supposed to be lock behind in the past. They tend to burn like a "demon" in me. In my case, I prefer to imagine it as something like a gigantic three headed beast, otherwise, a dog.

Lately I reminiscence of the past, I would say, a little too much. It is also getting on my nerves that I'm getting a bit unbalanced, in the sense I'm not managing my feelings pretty well. I assure you I am not going crazy, just having some difficulties. It is just like spinning on a spot, having no idea of which way I should be heading for.

I could say I'm pretty worried that my emotions might just get the better of me some day, but hopefully I be wrong once more this time.

Was more frustrating than this was that I suddenly lost a link between my neurons early on in the evening when I was still in school. I was about to perform a trick that I came up with when I suddenly lost track of my mind and the synapse just break connection. I seem to be getting it, but never able to recollect every bit of it. Of course this is not the first time things like this happened. It is just that as when I lose my belongings, namely my glasses.

If you have noticed in school, I have began to start wearing glasses again. That was with much persuasion by my parents. I would rather not risk losing them again, and get all so frustrated over my lost of glasses than to wear them for my own convinience, I don't exactly need them anyway. I am pretty sure that my eyes didn't worsen much even though I have not wore them for a year or so. Then again, better be safe then sorry I guess. It's time I attempt to take better care of my glasses again. Hopefully, I ain't gonna dissapoint myself this time round, I paid part of the cost of my glasses after all.

Lastly, I think I really need to find some one to spill it all out some time. So that I could get some advice and get them off my chest.

Ja-na.

Let Hurricane Coup take you by storm!
A revolution is about to begin. Operation Coup D’état, initiate.

Things just aren't doing well in choir I feel. Something just have to be done to make sure we do make it through this ordeal. It ain't just gonna take a miracle to make another miracle to happen. Although chances and faith may be crucial, effort has to be shown and a revolution may be exactly what it needs to treat the current situation.

It just doesn't seem to be the choir that I wanted to see. I thought choir would become a place that all choir members would feel dedicated and in love with, a choir that everyone has a part to play, a stand to speak up. Measurements must be taken to ensure that we don't fail for this year's SYF.

I swear I'm so gonna breakdown if we are going to get anything less than a Silver, especially a COP or Bronze. So I'm not gonna allow that happen, not gonna let the dreams and hopes of many to fall flat on the ground and trampled over. However, most probably I would also go crazy if we get a Gold, even though that is exactly what I hope that the choir can achieve in this coming SYF Central Judging that is like only 35 days away (according to Jermyn).

Darn exhausted, gonna have a nap before I get started on my work.

It's 1985. Nixon's still in the White House and Zeppelins fill the sky. And a motley crew of costumed heroes have come out of retirement to unravel a mystery that starts with the brutal slaying of a former colleague and ends with… well, that'd be telling.

This is the alternate world of Watchmen - a world populated by ordinary people who do extraordinary things, and one extraordinary person who has forgotten what it's like to be ordinary.

That person is Doctor Manhattan, formerly physicist Jon Osterman, whose body is destroyed by an "intrinsic field subtractor" before he somehow learns to reconstruct himself as an omniscient blue giant who can teleport, replicate himself, manipulate objects using only his mind, and see through time. He's basically a giant Smurf with spooky quantum powers.

You should find the above intriguing if you always liked Sci-Fiction, or have always been interested in books that are titled something like, "The Science behind Superheroes". This article cites articles from many other articles which you would find intriguing. Like Manhattan's ability to manipulate objects with his mind, existence of Tachyons and many others. All these information can be found on NewScientist.com*.

Since the class is pretty much filled with an atmostphere of magic, I'm gonna put up videos relating to magic today. In which case, in particular, the card magic.

Here or There

For more interesting card magic, visit this YouTube Channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/kammagic. It has alot of interesting card magic videos.

To end of this segment of magic, it is another video on a performance by the World Champion, Jason Latimer.

So what happened today? I got back Chemistry and SS CA1 results, the latter was alot better than the previous apparently. Mdm Yaw commented again that I was overly confident, but she also said that I should "Brush up on your exam skills." As that was part of the reason why I didn't do well in this paper. The main reason however was like what I stated before, my lack of experience. I terribly need a Chemistry TYS soon.

I managed to get Hoe Xian to treat me $2 so that I can afford the Megavalue meal at KFC. Well, they asked to join them, so I guess a little tip wouldn't harm I guess. Fine, that was bad of me. Hopefully that would be the last too.

Things got a bit sour as Hoe Xian brings up what Sharon told him on the phone about Roy. Roy sort of went to emo mode. I asked Hoe Xian how the conversation started between him and Sharon too, turns out they were talking about practically everyone Hoe Xian knows in choir.

Managed to get a few good hours of sleep in the late afternoon as soon as I reached home and bathe. I am still feeling sort of exhausted from all that running yesterday. Especially my lower right thigh which most probably got over stretch on Monday. There is a constant risk for it to cramp when ever I should over exert it I believe.

I haven't put up my under construction poem too. I believe I should get help from Leonard before going ahead with posting it up here. Not when I have crtics coming to my blog now and then such as Hong Zhang, Ruth and Jia Zhe.

That pretty much sums up everything I guess.

唐禹哲 - 不能不想她 (完整版)

NINE WORDS WOMEN USE
(1) Fine : This is the word women use to end an argument when they areright and you need to shut up.

(2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour.Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five moreminutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

(3) Nothing : This is the calm before the storm. This means something, andyou should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually endin fine.

(4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

(5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement oftenmisunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot andwonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with youabout nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)

(6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women canmake to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard beforedeciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

(7) Thanks : A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just sayyou're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless shesays 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you atall. DO NOT say 'you're welcome'. that will bring on a 'whatever').

(8) Whatever : Is a woman's way of saying F - - - YOU!

(9) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaningthis is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but isnow doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What'swrong?' For the woman's response refer to # 3.

Apparently just something Eddie got from some forum once again. So see what you can see and decided how true it is. I personally don't agree with 8. Anyway, I'll be back to post again after I'm done with other stuffs at hand, most probably that would include homework.

I AM darn exhausted from the run earlier on today, had ran 5 rounds around the school, hell tiring. I'm not exactly satisfied with my timing too, as it kind of sucked. My timing was only around 22min if I'm not mistaken, which is not what I expected to get. My stamina just proves to be just as bad as it was before.

Mrs Toh was very reluctant about letting some of the guys, like myself, to get change into our uniform after the run, as her lesson was right after that. Still she did, as the few of us who went were really darn wet. You should have seen our PE attire, you could probably get a few hundred millitres of water out of that. We probably stink just as bad as a rotten egg too, just kidding.

Anyway, I was darn worried about my work when Mdm Yaw was showing up the works of students who didn't do well for the Practice SPA task 3 assignment, but was relieved as she soon ended of her display of not very well done work by the rest of the class. Leon got the most out of her fury. He was made to redo the whole assignment and copy out the model answer that Mdm Yaw prepared for all of us. All because of his illegible handwriting.

Went for practice today rather unwillingly as I was just too tired. Luckily the day passed by pretty soon. Jermyn was pretty nice today, he also did something the rest of us wouldn't probably thought of. I also had a small talk with him and hope things would go well from here on. However, I'm not at the slightest happy about Shaun's attitude. To think we had a senior with the same name.

He is getting on my nerves these days. I gave him a warning right in his face in front of the girls, just like how he wanted it. I gave him a chance to save his face by leaving his seat, he chose the hard way though. I can tell he is not happy with what I had to say, but things would only get even ugly if he doesn't change. Jermyn wouldn't be as kind as me, I'm very sure of that.

After choir ended, I forgot to return the keys to Ms Seah's home room nor did I pass it to Sharon. I was at the bubble tea shop when Sharon called me and ask of the keys. Gosh. I ran all the way back to return the keys, can you imagine that. I was already exhausted from the run in the morning and had to run back to school from a distance of at least a few hundred metres. That totally took a toll out of me.

Just for today, I'm gonna share a new word I found rather found of, which was taken from Dictionary.com. It is the Word of the Day for today, "sanguine".

sanguine \SANG-gwin\, adjective, noun;
  1. cheerfully optimistic, hopeful, or confident
  2. (in old physiology) having blood as the predominating humor and consequently being ruddy-faced, cheerful, etc.
Just two of the better definition that I prefer as I felt that it suits me pretty well. Thanks to that, now I know a better word to decribe myself.

Humans may be hard-wired to believe in creation

* 12:29 02 March 2009 by Ewen Callaway

Religion might not be the only reason people buy into creationism and intelligent design, psychological experiments suggest.

No matter what their religious beliefs, college-educated adults frequently agree with purpose-seeking yet false explanations of natural phenomena – finches diversified in order to survive, for instance.

"The very fact of belief in purpose itself might lead you to favour intelligent design," says Deborah Kelemen, a psychologist at Boston University, who led the study

Kelemen has documented the same kinds of erroneous thinking – called promiscuous teleology – in young children. Seven and eight-year olds agree with teleological statements such as "Rocks are jagged so animals can scratch themselves" and "Birds exist to make nice music". These mistakes diminish as kids take more science classes and learn causal explanations for natural events.
