It started with a BANG,

and ended with a CRUNCH.

It has finally come to an end.

In this post I am gonna recollect the Big Day for the BBSS Choir '09 starting from the very morning when everyone was to report - the Music Centre.

In pitch black I left home. Filled with pretty much anxiety that it was finally the Big Day. Caught the right bus and the right time. A pretty great start for the day I thought. However, I almost turned up late at school. Only reach school just in time and by the time I reach the Music Centre, I was already a few minutes late. Nevertheless, I made it.

After surrendering my possesions, I got the guys to all gather at the Boys toilet to wax up our hair. Brought back beautiful memories at moments, of the last SYF when Shaun and Zheng Yang was still around.

The order was given to gather back at the room so that we can do our final touches before we head down to get onto the bus. We were rather held back some how, I believe the bus reported late at the school gates. Only boarded the school at around 7.30am. The journey down all the way to VCH was rather soothing though, kept my anxiety at bay with a pair of ear piece in my ears that are not plugged to anything. All that was playing, were songs that kept my calm and at ease. All playing right from my mind. Talk about Plug and Play.

So we reached and met up with Ms Yee, moved to the beloved and good old bus stop near the Concert Hall. Again, it brought up pleasant memories of the last SYF too. Maybe, it was a sign that we were going to get Silver already. Ran through a few of the pieces after the warm ups. Finally, we assured Ms Yee once again that we were going to place 110% faith in her and follow her through the final part of the race.

Everything became more of a rush after we got called into the hall. This was the moment of truth as every thing that we have done in the past 5 months and more was going, to face the music of truth.

I enjoyed myself in the performance more than I had originally expected I will be. With the added confidence, I swayed and brought out everything I was taught of and did my very best after these months of training. It was refreshing when the whole thing ended. Very refreshing and relaxing.

We went on to see the rest of the schools perform in the morning session and gained much from it. I liked ACSI and VS best throughout the schools that were performing. VS exceptionally left a deep impression on me. But of course, it was being conducted and instructed by one of the best conductors in Singapore! Their performance was darn creepy. The meow really brought the goosebumps up to the collar. Very very entertainning and educational.

However the best part of the morning came next. I must say, I am exceptionally thankful that we got to stay till Lunch time. Got to hear a true COP choir for the very first time. It was truly an eye-opener to see both a GwH choir and a COP choir perform.

Rush back to school and had a hour and a half of free time before I had to report at the Bio Lab for the Bio SPA. After which I rush back home to get changed and get money for the dinner at night.

It was rather hectic along the journey to the VCH as Desiree just couldn't lead the road well enough. It would have been easier and faster had we alight at Raffles. It only made matters worst that she attempted to bring us to VCH through a shortcut, which ended up extending our walking time by at least 3x!

Could have reach there earlier. Nevertheless, the thought of sitting in the Hall to listen the results was diminished when we were informed that only the teacher-in-charge was allowed in. Both Ms Seah and Ms Dianah got a sit for themselves and the rest of us waited outside. They sure took their time to release their results. Had waited for at least 45 minutes before they released the results.
"Choir number 15. Bukit Batok Secondary School, Silver."
Even though that had been expressionless, I questioned had it really been said in that manner when everyone jumped and screamed upon hearing the news. The girls broke into tears of joy, and the guys finally released their grips on each other's shoulders. Maybe just except for one girl.

I didn't express much happiness even though I was on the verge of crying. I still have the urge to cry towards the end of the day with the thought of all the hard work that was put in and we gladly received the best news of the day. It was a recognition of our hard work. Our hard work and patience had finally paid off.

Everyone became rather chaotic in the moment the news broke out. It was later known that Ms Seah heard us screamed outside the doors when the announcement was released. I seriously felt sorry for those schools which didn't did as well as they thought they would. The girls totally made it worst by cheering right among the crowd, in front of a group of already extremely hurt girls. I swore I heard one of the girls cried even louder after they did the cheer.

Quickly requested for the choir to move out of the entrance to gather outside the building. The crying continued and we were shortly joined by Ms Seah and Ms Dianah. It had been rather fruitful after all.

They were sad that they didn't get to shave my hair off though. I didn't mind personally to shave my hair if we really got a Gold. In fact, I would do anything to exchange for it. However, I have no regrets and disappointment anymore for I know we had did our very best already.

Was pretty shocked at first upon hearing the news that there was a group of online critic criticising on the choirs, and apparently thought little of us. But their criticism weren't groundless as I checked out after which when I reach home late in the night.

We struggled to agree on a place to have a meal together and end up splitting the group. Most of us became the group that chose FoodCourt over Swensens. It doesn't matter though.

It was a great meal despite the food wasn't spectacular, but because we had each other and we had already received the best thing that anything could have had happen to us that day.

We can finally take a breather and look forward with more confidence for the AAC Performance earlier on today. Which turned out pretty well. But was of a lower quality as we were badly shaken by the extremely long wait while the VIPs entered the Hall. It was also later known that the mic was not on, but didn't matter still.

As Sec 4, we can finally step down without regrets as we have fulfilled our duty despite the accusations by some seniors that we weren't gonna make it through this SYF with a Silver. Still, we proved them wrong.

All that is left to await for choir, is the Official Choir Graduation Ceremony cum. SYF '09 Celebration Dinner cum. Choir Camp '09. Not forgetting, however, that we still have some duties before we are released officially till the above events. The last duty on the list is the passing down of our positions with a series of interviews to be held.

However, I have no regrets and disappointment anymore..

for I know we had did our very best already...

"Stream down that river, for new wonders beyond those waters."
"With this clap, the world shall witness the beauty and wonders. With a snap, it shall change. With that many, it has already begun so."
"Ignorance is bliss, for ignorance is not to be blamed for the wretched ones actions."
"Stop hiding, start searching."
"What is Love to cause such misery to those who fail to achieve it. Love."
