5 CENTIMETERS PER SECOND (5cm/s)

"I still like you even now."
"But, even if we were to exchange a thousand emails..."
"...our hearts would probably not move even one centimeter closer together."

Yesterday, I had a dream. A dream I have had since long ago. In that dream, we had yet to turn 13. We were in a vast countryside completely covered with snow, the lights of the houses extended far into the distance, a dazzling sight. We walked on the thick carpet of fresh snow, but did not leave any footprints. And like that, "Someday, we will be able to watch the cherry blossoms together again", both of us, without any doubts at all, that's what we thought.

5 Centimeter per Second Review.

I was just surfing on the net before I came across this movie. The pictures of the movie was attractive and immediately caught my attention.

Firstly, the whole graphic of the movie was rather amazing. I was even awed when I heard it is a hand-drawn animated movie. Much expected of the Japanese I guess. The whole plot was pretty sad and I held much hope that both the leads would get together at the end of the movie. But the sudden turn in events towards the end of the movie came as a shock to me. It felt like a slap on the face as I had expected that the movie would end happily ever after.

The scenes and animation used was amazing as well.
Quotes from source, "Everything from the shades of color in the sky, the shine of the stars, the snow, the rain, etc., was all carefully placed with amazing depth and precision."

It didn't affect me that there was little music incoorporated into the movie, it turned out well and made the exceptionally great artwork stood out much more.
"This is a movie whose aesthetics and animation quality can be appreciated by not just anime fans but anyone interested in art or cinematography."
