Posting has certainly became such a chore. The fact that life is dull and boring and I spent 12 hours awake only, thus indeed contribute to it.

I woke up pretty late today. 1300hrs if I'm not mistaken. Then had brunch or rather just lunch, skipped the breakfast. Then spend some time updating myself on the current TV shows on in the weekend afternoon at home. Decided that I would have to start doing homework by 1630hrs and found myself in a mess of choices to make. Which ISPL should I do? Which bores me the most? Which ISPL would I do with most effort? Which should I postpone? I bet that applies to everyone else too.

Finally looking through a few, I ended up doing E. Math. Bio and Eng just turns me off. Social Studies could just kill. Making a compromise I plan to do 1 question a day for Social Studies, so that at least I would be able to hand them up at the end of the holidays. Chinese still dragging my feet like a heavy metal chain. Can't wait to get them off, but it is just as bad to look at to attempt to remove them now.

I'm seriously running low on creative juices with this dull boring holiday. Can't wait to get back to school for choir practices. And return school. School days are a lot livelier than this. It would certainly perk me up with ideas to post.

I've always felt that the URL never fits the blog, but then again if I was to post some science papers here, I would be flooded with screams and complaints over my blog. But that would certainly liven up the tagboard than it is now. It's driving me crazy. The tag just stays still every day. Turns me off to post too.

Those eager to see 2008 come to a close will have to wait a second longer. A single leap second will be added at the end of the year to accommodate a subtle slow-down in the Earth's rotation.

The decision, made earlier this year by the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service, will adjust coordinated universal time (UTC), which is used to calibrate national and regional clocks around the world.

The leap second will be added on 31 December 2008 at 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds UTC.

UTC time is counted by atomic clocks, but it is adjusted occasionally to accommodate changes in the length of the Earth's day.

Tugs from the Sun and Moon are gradually slowing the Earth's spin and causing its days to get longer. But this deceleration occurs unevenly.

The speed of the Earth's rotation sometimes gets a subtle boost due to a complex coupling between the Earth's mantle and core, which are thought to spin at somewhat different rates.

To accommodate the unevenness of this slow-down, leap seconds can be added twice a year - at the end of June and at the end of the December.

This leap second will be the 24th added to the world's clocks since 1972, and the first one added since the end of 2005. No leap seconds were added between the end of 1998 and the end of 2005 due to a slight, temporary acceleration in the Earth's rotation.
